Hi, I’m Mia!

I like long walks on the beach, random foods made into pizza, spontaneous road trips, and caring for a veritable jungle of houseplants. I moved to Milwaukee from Kalamazoo, Michigan in 2022 with a biology degree, two ridiculous dogs, and a dream. A dream to tell love stories. But I don’t need anyone to pinch me because I’m awake and this is actually my real life!

I have always been, first and foremost, a storyteller. A voracious reader and writer in a passionate love affair with the written word who, in a case of love at first sight with a Nikon Coolpix at age 10, began a til-death-do-us-part commitment to the art of photography. Let me tell you, I took some *cool* pics with that camera. Get it? Because Coolpix.

Anyways.

A picture is worth a thousand words, and the camera gave me a whole new way to tell a story.

I truly believe that photographs and videos are some of the most valuable things we can possess. It’s part of why I feel an innate responsibility to document life, and why doing so for others is such an honor. The human memory is frustratingly fallible. Especially as we grow older, it becomes harder to remember all of those moments we wanted to live in forever. I might not be able to remember what someone’s voice sounded like without the video I have of them singing, or remember sitting in that restaurant, wearing that dress, eating that amazing food, hugging my grandfather at graduation, without the photograph that captured that instant in time. At the end of my life, I will be able tell others my story, and tell myself the parts I will have inevitably forgotten, with a kaleidoscope of images collected over an entire lifetime. I can be 4 or 8 or 25 or 67 again, experience every feeling again, with my hoard of memories, solid and untouched by the ravages of time, immortalized. When I photograph people, I seek to immortalize every smile, every touch, every kiss, every laugh. So that you can share that moment, exactly as it was, again and again. Your romance has a beginning and, hopefully in a long while, an end, and somewhere in the middle, there’s your most precious moments together. Moments that, when photographed, tell (in a thousand words each) a little bit of your unique love story.
